‌Aksu Fruit Industry Agricultural Wholesale Market Conducts Surprise Fire Emergency Drill in Blind-Spot Areas

On February 14, 2025, Chen Xing, Party Branch Secretary of Aksu Fruit Industry, and Wang Jicheng, General Manager, led an unannounced "double-blind drill" to test the fire emergency response capabilities of the agricultural wholesale market without prior warning. The drill specifically targeted low-traffic blind spots, such as the area around the boiler room, to evaluate emergency response effectiveness in under-monitored zones.

The exercise began with the Safety and Environment Department igniting smoke bombs at a concealed location north of the boiler room to simulate a fire. At 12:10 (two minutes after smoke deployment), the department issued a fire alert to market management. Upon receiving the alert, the market’s emergency system activated immediately: three patrol officers closest to the site arrived at the scene with fire extinguishers by 12:12, followed by 17 additional responders who assembled in batches between 12:12 and 12:14.

The drill revealed critical insights: the entire process, from alert issuance to fire extinguishing, took 2 minutes and 40 seconds. However, a 2-minute response gap during the alert reception phase highlighted monitoring blind spots. The exercise also validated emergency resource deployment efficiency, with 20 fire extinguishers fully deployed within 1 minute and 15 seconds, and personnel movement routes largely meeting standards.

By simulating a fire in a non-priority monitoring area, the drill effectively exposed vulnerabilities in routine management. The company has instructed market management to develop a special rectification plan to address blind-spot monitoring and response delays, with improvements focused on optimizing staffing and tightening safety protocols.
